The Palazzo della Cappella Musicale del SS. Sacramento is an important cultural center that houses one of the oldest institutions in the city. Built in 1730 by Cardinal Annibale Albani as a residence for the Maestre Pie Venerini, the building stands on a 14th-century structure, with visible remains on the ground floor, such as columns and Gothic capitals.
The Cappella Musicale was founded in 1507 by Duke Guidobaldo I, who provided funds from the Fermignano paper mill to support the Masters of the Chapel, musicians, and singers. Over the centuries, the Cappella has played a key role in the city's musical life, hosting notable composers such as Pietro Scarlatti and Francesco Morlacchi.
Today, the Palace is home to the Cappella Musicale, as well as music courses, concerts, and other cultural activities. Its history, blending the sacred and the musical, makes it a key cultural landmark in Urbino.
