Museo Diocesano “Albani”

The Albani Diocesan Museum, located in the Episcopal Palace of Urbino, It houses a rich artistic and liturgical heritage that tells the millennial history of the Archdiocese of Urbino - Urbania - Sant'Angelo in Vado. Inaugurated in 1964, the museum is named after the noble Albani family, who made significant contributions to the "treasures of the cathedral", and it represents a fundamental reference point for understanding the history, art, and spirituality of Urbino, offering visitors a journey through the centuries and traditions of the city.

The exhibition route unfolds through seven thematic rooms. Room I is dedicated to the history of the cathedral, while Room II explores the role of the Albani family in artistic patronage. Room III, "The Seasons of the Middle Ages," presents works that testify to the spirituality and devotion of the medieval era, including illuminated manuscripts and liturgical objects. Room IV, "Urbino and the Arts of the Renaissance," celebrates the cultural flourishing of the Duchy of Urbino in the 15th century, highlighting the influence of artists such as Piero della Francesca and Giovanni Santi. Room V focuses on the mature Renaissance and Mannerism, while Room VI explores the "Manner of Barocci," dedicated

to the renowned painter Federico Barocci. Finally, Room VII, "Treasures of the Cathedral," displays precious liturgical vestments and sacred objects that testify to the spiritual richness of the community.
