Ex Monastero di Santa Chiara

The Former Monastery of Santa Chiara was commissioned by Elisabetta Feltria, daughter of Federico da Montefeltro, who in 1482 entrusted the works to architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini. This place became a major religious and cultural center, and in the 16th century, it was transformed into the Ducal Mausoleum. Inside, it became the final resting place of Francesco Maria I Della Rovere, a key member of the dynasty, along with Gentile Brancaleoni and Battista Sforza, respectively the first and second wives of Federico da Montefeltro.

The building’s façade blends Gothic and Renaissance elements; the interior is characterized by an elegant simplicity, with spacious and well-lit areas.

Today the complex houses the ISIA (Higher Institute for Artistic Industries), a graphic design and visual communication school.
