Chiesa di San Bernardino - Mausoleo dei Duchi

According to historical sources, the Church of San Bernardino, located just outside Urbino’s city walls, was built at the behest of Federico da Montefeltro, who chose it as his mausoleum and final resting place, along with his son Guidobaldo. The design is attributed to the renowned Renaissance architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, who conceived a structure with harmonious and disciplined lines, perfectly integrated into the surrounding hills.

The church is a prime example of Renaissance architecture, noted for its geometric clarity and refined simplicity. Inside, the sober and contemplative space houses the elegant tombs of the Dukes, reflecting the power and sophistication of the Montefeltro dynasty. The monumental complex also includes an adjoining convent, inhabited by Franciscan friars who supported the site's religious and cultural life.
